Please click on the link above and watch this video that will give you a few tips when it comes to job interviews. By explaining the what to do's and what NOT to do will help you land this job and help you with your listening skills. Listening is key and is so important for job interviews and experiences.

LISTENING

When listening in a job interview or other experiences:

-Give your FULL attention

-Make sure you have a focused mind

-Let speaker finish, do not finish the sentences for them. The worse thing you can do is assume.

-Listen for main ideas and things that stand out.

-Ask questions to clarify and show that you were paying attention and can recite back to them what they have been saying.

-Give feedback, perhaps make a comment about something they mentioned that you may have problems struggling in or can really shine in.

"Remember: time is on your side! Thoughts move about four times as fast as speech. With practice, while you are listening you will also be able to think about what you are hearing, really understand it, and give feedback to the speaker."

Hearing, Understanding, Judging.

Listening is a process with three steps:

Hearing:

Listening to what the speaker is saying. Once the speaker is finished talking and you can repeat what they were saying that means you were active listening.

Understanding:

When you take what you heard and apply it in your own way. Maybe by using examples or explaining it to someone else. That way you know that you understand it and can recite it if necessary.

Judging:

Think about what the speaker says, and whether or not you believe it to be true. You can question it or if you are not comfortable at that time you may do research and follow up with an e-mail.
